Using LIKE & AS in English

Using LIKE & AS in English, differences between like and as, how can use like and as;



LIKE

Like is used to say what something or someone looks / is like.

Like, as a preposition, is used;

–> Before a noun or pronoun,

–> to say that two things are similar.

Examples;

  • George’s sister looks like Megan Fox.
  • The meat smells like fish.
  • I look like my father.
  • Mary works like a slave.
  • It was a small animal like a Mouse.
  • The girl runs like a rabbit.

AS

As is used to describe someone’s job / role.

As, as a preposition, is used;

–> Before a noun or pronoun,

–> to refer to jobs or functions.

Examples;

  • As your mother, I am proud of you.
  • She reached as a dentist should.
  • Michael used his shoe as a hummer.
  • My sister works as an engineer.
  • As a parent, please let me tell you…
  • As you know I read many books.
  • We use soft papers as toilet papers.
